Mighty Shiny at the Skylark – Sat., 9/5

Posted September 2nd, 2009 by Greg

Greg’s other band Mighty Shiny is playing at the Skylark this Saturday, September 5th. It’s their last show of the year (probably) and is free, so you should go. What, you’re gonna watch Sheryl Crow at Bumbershoot? You don’t wanna do that. Details here.

New recording: “Strike Two Stones”

Posted August 12th, 2009 by Greg

Recording is going well. Slow but steady. Here’s a rough mix of a killer new song (I didn’t write it so I can say that). We discovered that Malkah’s acoustic guitar run through her 15-watt tube amp sounds pretty nice, and that I can still sing high harmonies and play bass. Enjoy:

Thanks for coming to the Skylark!

We had a fun show, and saw some friendly faces. And even though a week of sweltering weather took its toll, the Skylark wasn’t too hot – we’re glad our gig wasn’t on Wednesday, when it got up over 100 degrees! Thanks to everyone who came out. Now Mountain Kids Fantasy shall hibernate for a bit as we work on recording…stay tuned to the blog for sneak previews of songs-in-progress!

Posted February 28th, 2009 by Greg

Friends! Fellow Americans! Our next show is at the marsBar on Saturday, March 14th! We’re playing with Greg’s other band, Mighty Shiny, and Hijack Maria.

Mountain Kids Fantasy opens the show, and will have guest musician James Movius sitting in for a portion of our set, producing the power trio version of MKF. Next up are Mighty Shiny rocking out a new song or two, and the evening closes with Hijack Maria. We’re on pretty close to 9 PM sharp – come early and say hello and have a drink! Cover is $6.

Kick-ass poster put together by Rhonda Pelikan (from Mighty Shiny).

Our Official Band Animal

Posted February 12th, 2009 by Greg

Mountain Kids Fantasy’s official band animal is the Capybara. Those are Capys as the background image on our webpage. When you think of Capybaras, think of Mountain Kids Fantasy. Like us, they are the world’s largest rodent, enjoy water, and are very cuddly-looking. Capybaras and Mountain Kids Fantasy!
